FioulReduc – reaching millions of new customers with AdWords


I’m Hervé Degrève, co-founder and head of marketing
at FioulReduc.com in Paris. Our company is three years old and specialises in distributing
domestic heating oil online. We founded FioulReduc
simply because there was no way to order heating oil online in France. We act as brokers, we help connect customers
looking for the best prices with distributors
looking for new customers. The energy industry
is very traditional. We wanted to
inject a breath of fresh air – using all the digital tools. It started on a shoestring:
two of us, each working from home with 2-3 distributors across France. Now we employ 10 people
and work with 150 distributors, so we can serve all
mainland France. We use Google Analytics
and AdWords, with them we’ve generated
nearly 2 million unique visitors, of which 40,000 are now
our customers. I really like Google’s products:
they let us grow at our own pace, according to the season and
our geographic coverage. We aim to win 10% of the French
domestic heating oil market, and extend the service
to other countries in Europe.
