3 Reasons Digital Marketing Destroys Traditional Marketing

3 Reasons Digital Marketing Destroys Traditional Marketing

Damn I just got destroyed. There are three reasons why
digital marketing destroys traditional marketing, now
remember back in the old days when I was doing traditional marketing. Now for some of the
young guys watching this, you have no clue what I’m talking about. I’m talking about good old newspaper. Yes, we were running display ads. And also I’m talking
about like broadcast fax. No email, fax machine, but that’s how we used to do advertising and marketing before digital,
before internet comes along. I think a lot of us take it
for granted compared to what we have today compared to back then. Let me share with you the three reasons or what I call the three T’s why digital marketing is far superior
than traditional marketing. First one is targeting, now imagine traditional marketing
let’s say you’re driving on the highway you see these
huge massive billboard right advertising certain things
you see those in Vegas. They still have those which
is fine but it’s more like brand awareness but that’s
traditional advertising a billboard you can’t really target who is going to see that billboard. You just write there,
if someone sees it good, if someone doesn’t see it you
don’t really know but with digital marketing with online
you can precisely target exactly who do you want
seeing your offer, seeing your website, seeing your business
or seeing your bundle. You can choose example with
Google AdWords, you can target the keywords that they’re
searching, you know the buyer intent and you can put your
message right in front of there. So that when they search the
keyword they will find you or with Facebook you can also
their precisely target exactly who you want, what are
the interest, what’s that, that profile that you are
targeting so you could target very precisely, exactly who
do you want for your customers or for your offer that you cannot do with traditional marketing. When we were doing direct mail,
we can target a little bit, mean we can rent a list
of potential buyers, you can we can send out
those direct mail pieces, but it’s not very targeted. And we don’t really know
what happens, right. In the good old days, direct
mail, we have a term called A-pile B-pile, meaning that
people saw the the mail right next to the trash can, the
garbage can, right where they know, okay, this is an
ad, this is a flyer, this is something that doesn’t
interest me, it goes in the trash can we call that the B-pile. The A-pile are all the
personal letters, right, it’d be letters from
someone that you know, or maybe statements and credit
card statements and bills those will make it to the
A-pile, as a marketer back then, when we were doing direct mail. The first goal is not to get people to buy, the first goal
is to get people to make sure they don’t throw away our stuff, right? Make sure we make it to the A-pile. So now with digital marketing, you don’t need to do that anymore. You can put your offer
your product, your service in front of precise exactly
who you want, when you want it, where you want it. You can choose country, you
can choose demographics, you can choose psychographics, extremely, extremely powerful. Number two, the second T
is tracking, not just that. So with direct mail, we can kind of track. Okay, we send out 1000 letters,
we send out 5000 letters, we send out 10,000 letters,
we kind of roughly know that okay, out of the 10,000 letters we got so many order forms back. Back then, that’s what
we how we used to do it. They actually said people send
back an order form or send back the money or call a phone
number to to buy something but still not very precise
with internet marketing. Oh my goodness! With digital marketing, you can track exactly what happens. Where that buyer comes from,
where that customer comes from. You can even track their journey. Maybe they first saw this particular video and then they’ve opt into this particular offer and then they didn’t buy
and when we run a retargeting ads and then they bought in
this period of time or they bought because they saw email number four in your email sequence. You cannot do that with
traditional marketing you could only do that with
digital marketing that’s powerful and number three
and that is the third T and that is tweaking. Now think about back
then, if I’m doing a big massive billboard and if say,
you know what, I don’t like the billboard I’m changing my message or now I have a different offer. What do I have to do? I’ve got to take out the
whole damn Billboard. I got to replace everything at the reprint everything, with
digital, if there’s an ad that I’m running, I don’t like I
can change it just like that. I can split test different ads
at the same time have an A/B testing or been marketing call
the A/B testing we can tweak different things or my webpage
I’m testing on a different guarantee a different price point. Run traffic to it and I will know. Now traditional advertising, anything that we do, there’s
a huge delay in terms of time, that gap that makes it very,
very expensive and very costly. So the benefits of marketing
online and all those things you can target, you can track and you can also tweak very quickly to get better result, that’s the upside. But there’s a downside, the downside is everybody could do the same thing. So the marketplace is getting way more sophisticated, your competitors,
they are getting more sophisticated, there are more ways for them to compete with you, anybody. I don’t care how big you are. You could be running a pretty big company, it doesn’t matter. A 17 year old kid living in a basement could compete with you. So knowing that yes, with
the technology digital marketing has so many advantages. At the same time, knowing that
it changes all the time that you have to do more to keep up
the pace to have that leading edge and always say if
you not the lead doc. The view is always the same. If this is the first time
you are watching my video, make sure you hit the
thumbs up and comment below. And also hit the bell,
turn on the notification and subscribe to my channel. Every single day, I upload a new video for you to give you the
motivation, to give you the inspiration, to give you
the distinction and wisdom that will help you to take
whatever is that you do. I don’t care if you’re starting out. I don’t care if you’re
still working a job. I don’t care if you have
a business that’s doing sort of model level, I’m certain you’ll
learn something from it. With that said I gotta
get back to my game. (bouncy music)

I like that Dan is always doing something in the videos now, it feels like an episode of Entourage.

And I second how important digital marketing is, I was the first person in the world to flip a house on Facebook.

Dan you won't believe it as I type it I am in my digital marketing class…I followed the Instruction of developing your high income skill before starting a business it's been an amazing journey thanks for touching my life God bless you

Digital marketing is the best because you have such a broad range of potential customers to get to your business. If you know what you're doing.

Wow, I'm New TO Digital Marketing, My prospect don't know how important is Digital Marketing. Now I can show this video to my client!

Thank you shifu applying your tips and i have 2x business in last month.
I am also sharing my journey to millionaire on my channel.
Any love and feedback would be highly appreciated.

boss you so crazy i love the way you started the vidoe. dam u just got destroyed, so dope. you are so creative and i love that you like games like me

Thanks for all the great advice's of being successful but can you tell me more about your child hood and what you did at the age of 14

Content is fire; social media is gasoline. We need to stop interrupting what people are interested in and BE what people are interested in. Thanks Dan! Will totally incorporate your tips on our business! Would just like to share with you guys, We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. We just graduated college as well. We started a cookie shop out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night. We were living in our car in the parking lot of the shop at the time with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

Yes! The digital age disrupts everything. One needs to develop the skills to take advantage of the digital trend. Another informative video Dan. Thank you!

Fewer barriers to entry + Less Attention Span from viewers = A tough marketing environment. Dan Lok knows how to grab people's attention, though.

Good information there.. All three T's on point. Btw can we have three cheers for 'Space Invaders' in the back as well ๐Ÿ˜

My 1st mentor had us develop direct mail. It was juuuust before online took off. Funnily enough, direct mail may be seeing a resurgence because of online's ubiquity.

Your content is actually a little bit dangerous because it's addictive and someone can focus only on watching videos than moving his ass off
It's like a powerful tool but only in right hands. Most people just watch video after video and don't take real action

Yeah, through the internet, people are wired to packs, groups of potential consumers. But yet, it is the internet that making us more disconnected than ever.

Sorry, I was justing saying bullsh*t.

Target market vs leaving a postcard to random people that throw away the paper that donโ€™t even pay attention to it. And target like google & facebook target works and if u have utube, they will get to know the person.

I guess now "A pile" would be opened emails/Clicks and "B pile" would be the 'deleted without opening/bounced emails'

Hey so in school I had a money class taught by Dave Ramsey so i trust him or you cause I'm 19 and worried not to be poor

I think a lot of people don't know how to properly analyze the Google/Amazon/MS/Apple logistical data, is what you were talking about with the split testing groups. Google Analytics is the only one I have hands on with and I opted out (like anyone actually can) in choice of just directly logging the data on to the web server and parsing the log files. Don't need to reinvent the wheel, but don't want to make theirs [ai] any better…

(I know itโ€™s a bit pretentious, but give this comment a thumbs up so dan can see.)

Iโ€™m a young guy of 14 who was fortunate enough to start watching channels such as yours, Minority Mindset, and Scribner etc. And Iโ€™ve started to consider how I can become more successful in my adult life. But I think that I, and a fair few other people with a similar mindset, donโ€™t feel confident enough to start a business. And would in some respect rather not start an online business.

I feel like trading and investing would be more up my street. Maybe going through college, and setting up a side hustle in the stocks.

But Iโ€™d like to get perspective on this. Is it a no go? Are online businesses and related high income skills the only way to true success? I think the reason is Iโ€™m not quite ready to drop my passions. Being the age that I am. While I can see what youโ€™re driving at, Iโ€™m not sure how to sacrifice doing what I love, at least to a point.

Iโ€™d love to hear your thoughts, maybe in a video, or in a simple. And that goes for anyone else reading this comment, share your opinion! Iโ€™d appreciate it greatly.

    Regards

Wow. This is all so new to me. Good contrast and explanation… very Interesting. Looking forward to learn more from you Sifu.

Not universally. Totally depends on what you're selling. An expensive physical product will do better with an offline traditional method such as a relevant magazine ad than a digital one. Plus there's also the trust factor, especially if you're an unknown brand. Reach and impact are two different things. But I love Dan either way, I'm certain he meant in most cases, not 100% of the time.

you are right but in digital, you can miss also potential customers which are not exposed to you. in order for me to be your customer, I need somewhere to define this interest, without it, in the digital world you will never find me. so any company or person should work in multi-channels marketing.

    Hello Mr Dan Lok

Iโ€™ve been wanting to buy your high-ticket closing program for some time now
But what really stops me from buying it itโ€™s that I donโ€™t know what to do after.
So my question is how do I find companies that sell high-ticket products or services? Or how do companies find me? Could you make some examples of high-ticket products and services?

    Thank you for your time.

Wow ! This is extremely true and digital marketing is the future of the every entrepreneur .Keep it up Dan !

I love Dan Lok video because I'm a business student and I can watch his video to acquire more business-related insight๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Thanks for sharing. Digital marketing & SEO work. Most people don't have the patience or take the time to learn it, let alone wait for the results. It's like planting seeds and farming.

5:40 … I totally needed to hear this… after all the videos I have been watching…I had a question in my head .. taunting me… " what do we do when the market becomes saturated" …. answer… " Your absolute best." I figure if I can teach myself to program iPhone apps, and teach myself to play guitar… how tough could it be to teach myself to copywrite, and that is where the question came from.

Hello Dan, I am a developer currently developing my own product and am in the final phase, what is the best way to approach potential clients and offer my product and sell it?
I am planning on creating an FB page for my product, market it and use google ads, but I also want to approach potential clients directly, what would be the best approach?
